Note: When ordering, you only need to select a quantity of 1 to get a pair of pods
High quality made in the USA pods. Reduce draft and get on plane faster. Pods are to be welded or bolted to stern of the boat.
Small – Fits 12 to 16ft boats with boat width 48" or less. Pod width: 15-1/2"
Made out of 0.100 inch thick 5052 marine grade aluminum
Each small pod is 11 inches wide at the bottom. The outside edges of the pods are angled to match the angle of most jon boat gunnel walls. When installed on the average 1436 jon boat (36 inches wide at the bottom) the open space between the pods will be about 14 inches. Small pods provide about 118 pounds of flotation when fully submerged.
Installation:
These pods are ideally designed to be welded onto the boat.
Bolting the pods on is also an option. The customer will have to cut a hole in the top of the pod to gain access. Then bolt through the transom with a minimum of 4 bolts, one in each corner. Fender washers should be used on both sides and silicon caulking used to seal bolts. A piece of aluminum larger than the access hole should be used to seal the top. This can be welded, or caulked and screwed on.
Common questions
How close will the sides of the pods match my gunnel wall?
The angle of the outer wall of each pod is equal to a vertical rise of 8" and horizontal run of 4 3/4". If you measure the rise and run of your gunnel walls at the transom you can get a good idea of how closely the pods will match.
What is the pod width at the bottom?
Small pods are 11" wide at the bottom
Mediums pods are 14" wide at the bottom.
Large pods are 17" wide at the bottom.
How much room will I have between the pods.
To see how much room will be in between the pods on your boat you will want to take all measurements on the bottom of the boat at your transom.
From the bottom corner on each side, measure towards the center and make a mark at width of each pods.
